Hook Patterns (Secret Lesson)

Note: This lesson is taken straight from the Play By Ear Mastery Course. If you have access for free you went through a link in the [PSH] emails.

Hey! Welcome to this lesson where I give you the 5 most common patterns in pop music. Almost every song contains one of these patterns, so if you can learn them, when you hear one of them in a song you can instantly know exactly how to play it on the keyboard.

Key points from the lesson:

1. There are certain patterns of notes that occur in a TON of pop songs.

2. The most common pattern by far is 5 3 2 1.

3. The 4 other very common patterns are 3 5 6, 3 2 1 6, 6 7 1, and 4 3 2 1.
